IPSEDIXITISM
Co-researcher and Assistant Director
Synopsis IPSEDIXITISM began as a research project funded by L’Art Rue under the All Around Culture programme. The research examined the state of media and television in Lebanon in the aftermath of the civil war. The early 1990s marked a period when unlicensed TV channels operated freely, until the introduction of the Audio-Visual Media Law (Law No. 382/1994) formally regulated broadcasting in November 1994. The eerie nature of the civil war extended its grip into the sphere of television, where inexplicable occurrences tied to the medium were witnessed but left unquestioned. Ipsedixitism explores these peculiarities through the story of a fictitious startup television station that set up shop along the Green Line after the war had ended. Funded by L’Art Rue, the project’s research, development, and production evolved simultaneously. Toni Geitani and Reeda Fneiche continued their research while writing the first part of the film, which was partly filmed in Beirut in 2023. The project now enters its second stage of writing and editing.
